New Neutral

New Neutral Plum painted custom millwork with gloomy tie-ins and traditional furniture provide a unique twist in this farmhouse-style room to make guests feel comfortable and at home. "Purple is a hard colour to work with, but plum is purple with just enough brown in it to be about the neutral side," says interior designer Brian Patrick Flynn.

Cute and Cuddly Custom-made art of two cuddling sheep hangs above the bed and provides a friendly farmhouse feel to the area.

Purposeful Pillows Shades of plum and gray are layered in geometric patterns using a pop of blue that references the hue found in the excellent room.

Window Pew A locally-purchased antique church pew brings the essence of a window chair to the space and provides additional seating for guests to sit and get dressed.

Circle of Light What looks like a buff is really an industrial floor lamp which brings in vintage-inspired light décor.

Accent Pillows Plum and grey cushions dress up the rustic church pew and tie at the colors found throughout the room.

Southern Charm Pictures of rural locations around town and at the South include the guest bedroom and a sense of appeal.

Antique Accents A reclaimed lamp and old eye chart atop a timber farmhouse-style table are just a couple of the many classic squares scattered around.

Rural Motif Matted and framed photos stick out against fairly plum walls.

Blue and Black Hints of black and blue in furnishings and accent pieces help ground the room and add some drama.

Looking Sheepish A simple, Amish-style console retains a vase of sunflowers that soda from the plum walls, and a royal painting of a sheep hangs overhead, continuing the enjoyable farmhouse vibe.

Closet Case A cupboard door opens to reveal ample storage room plus a horse-leg saddle feces for extra seating.

Celebrate the Arts Framed artwork, cowboy boots and an acoustic guitar in the corner of the guest bedroom celebrate Asheville's artistic setting and southern roots.

Comfy Quilts A wrought iron bed layered with quilts give rise to the comfortable farmhouse feel. "I liked the concept of bringing in quilts and making it more conventional in this room, since it fits the area," states Brian.

Hallway Access A private door leads to the hallway for simple access to the washer and dryer and guest bathroom.

Out of Sight, Out of Mind An additional coat closet in the hallway offers additional storage space for homeowners and guests to minimize clutter.

Hidden Laundry A stacked washer and dryer are tucked inside a hallway closet for efficient utilization of space.

Beautiful Green A cheerful green and white hall bath serves both the guest bedroom and the first floor common areas.

Modern Bath Hardware Brushed nickel hardware give a sleek and streamlined style to the bathtub and shower duo.

Teak Shelving A teak tray snaps firmly onto a shower bar and produces a convenient shelf for holding everyday grooming products.

Soothing Shower Custom millwork has been continued to the guest bathroom ceiling and painted grey to coordinate with the mosaic tile and soothing green walls.

Rustic Bath Stool Relaxing bath time accessories await on a rustic handmade stool. "When I have the ability to add a stool outside of the bathtub, I think it's more spa-like," says Brian.

Mosaic of Marble Mosaic marble tile flooring are transitional and pick up the grey and white colors found throughout the restroom.

Fancy Faucet A shiny, sleek faucet continues the modern vibe and leads to a classy spa-like space.

Handy Hook An easy compact hook keeps towels, robes or garments close at hand.
